The day began with a headache at about 3:15 AM. I went back to bed at 5:30 and dreamed about a church that had a movie theater in it. I woke up at 7:15 AM with another headache. After some prayer, meds and 2 cups of coffee, I started to feel human and capable of facing the rest of the day.
I preached for the first time at a little, country church about 10 minutes from my house. I was told to expect about 10 or 12 in the congregation. There were 2 when the service started. After a couple of songs, a family friend came in with her daughter and granddaughters. Along with them, the regulars of the church, and my husband and myself, we had 8. Where there are 2 or 3… and all that.
The food I ordered for lunch was good but way too spicy hot for me. So after several bites, my daughter and I switched bowls. I finished her chicken broccoli Alfredo, and she finished my southwestern chicken bowl. I think it worked out for the best; even though I only ate part of that chicken, my eyes were watering, and my nose was running.
Who can resist a bowl of chocolate ice cream, especially when your husband dishes it out for you and brings it to you? Not me. Yum.
Breakfast for dinner is always a good thing, so after the evening church service at the apartments, we had biscuits and sausage. And, I just realize, I’ve talked more about food in this post than anything else.
Sometimes, decisions can be real hard to make. The best thing to remember, I think, is to not make big decisions in haste. For you young’uns out there, haste means in a hurry. One should not rush into life-changing decisions. One should spend a lot of time in prayer, contemplation, and discussions with wiser folks than one’s self before making those decisions.
So, here’s to a week of prayer, contemplation, and wondering who my wise advisors are going to be.
