I have been awake since 2:30 AM, my thoughts busy with sermon preparations. Which one is meant for this coming Sunday? Which one is meant for the next? Was my last sermon too long? Maybe, I talk too much.
We picked up a stray cat last week and named her Phoebe. She got out when my husband walked out the door to go to work. I had to wake up the 17-year-old to fetch her back in. My youngest, who is away at church camp would be broken-hearted if I let Phoebe stay outside. Still, 3 cats is too many, I’m thinking. All this hissing and growling sets my nerves on edge.
Someone on Twitter sent me a direct message. They think I might want to pay for others to hear me sing. Hahahaha! Yeah, right. I did answer them, though. I said, “I just sing at church.” I was not born yesterday; I’ve been scammed before.
Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
In the middle of a battle or storm, prayer is our lifeline, comfort, and strength. God’s peace transends all understanding. Confusion is melted down when we pray and submit ourselves to Him.
He knows when we haven’t slept enough, and if we ask and trust, He will supply us with the strength to make it through another day.
He cares more about cats than I ever will, so if I pray and trust Him, He’ll take care of the situation.
If I stay in His Word, he’ll take care of the sermon, whether it be long or short.
As for the singing, He loves to hear me, and that’s all that matters.
Be blessed.
