Four days into the “burrh” months, and the temperature as recorded by my husband’s car thermometer at 5 something this afternoon was 91. With our car’s air conditioner on the fritz, that 91 activates the complainer in me. Yes, I realize I am not in fact suffering persecution, but my body disagrees.
While taking some time off my school work this summer, I found myself getting bored very easily. Since I have started back up with my classes in the Ministry Preparation Program, I am wishing for time off to read fiction and write on my own stories.
I just finished writing a research paper for class. The title is “The Development of Christian Rituals: Early Practices and their Foundations”. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but my instructor says it is all correct.
Back in the middle of the 1800’s, it was a cool activity for college students to come up with funny spellings for common words and then use only the first letters of those words. Take for instance, the words “all correct”. Their odd spelling for these words was “ol. Korrect”, which, if you use only the first letters, turns into “ok”.
Wonder if my instructor thinks my paper is just “ok”. LOL
Today, if I said my paper was ok, you might think it was just so-so. Nearly 200 years ago, it would mean it is all correct. 🙂
I’m such a nerd. LOL
The three Christian rituals I talk about in my paper are prayer, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. Their origins are interesting. It took me about three days to organize and write the paper. It meets the word count requirement, but I keep thinking it is missing something. I tend to say more than is necessary, so I probably did just fine. I may post it here on the blog after seeing my grade on it. Would you like to read it? Comment below if this topic interests you.
Well, I’m off to enjoy some fiction before bed. Got to get up bright and early, cause tomorrow’s a school day for my daughters and me. One is taking cosmetology, the other is taking graphic design, and I’m still reading about the history of the church from the first century to the reformation.
Blessings, and thanks for reading. 🙂
