It’s a sleepy morning. Even the cats agree. I hear them snoring on the couch, one beside me, the other behind me. Every time I ask my Alexa if it is raining, she says, “Rain is expected in about fifteen minutes.” LOL Soft Gospel music is playing on Youtube, the washer is going, and I keep closing my eyes. Sometimes, adulting makes me tired.
I was reading in Mark 16 earlier, and a thought came to me. When Mary Magdalene and the mother of Jesus came to the tomb to anoint His body with spices, they would be ritually defiling themselves by touching a dead body. At least, they would have if He had been there. These ladies fully expected that their day would include a ritual wash in the Mikva for cleansing. Thankfully, there was no dead body in that tomb. The young man in the long, white garment said, “Be not affrighted: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him” (Mark 16:6 KJV).
He is risen!
Wait, I thought it was Advent season, not Easter. Yeah, it is Advent, but Easter’s coming! 🙂
As for that funny little word, “affrighted”. It sounds old-fashioned. It even looks funny written in braille. But, in case it’s too old-fashioned for you, it just means afraid. Don’t be afraid.
Don’t be afraid when things look out of the ordinary, because it just might mean your Son, your Savior is alive.
Don’t be afraid when you don’t have the answers about the future, because God has them.
Don’t be afraid when you experience a natural disaster, because somebody somewhere is recording it, and you’ll be famous on Youtube in about ten years. LOL Sorry, but I like watching tornado videos.
Y’all have a blessed Advent season, and may the hope of the Messiah be born in you today.
