The Winter Blahs?

I think winter is getting to me. Earlier this morning I put a post up on Facebook that says, “I miss the little country church where we had Bible study on Wednesdays and where we sang the old hymns. I miss playing the piano and singing. Musicians and singers had more love for Jesus than skill, but it was all right, because the Spirit of God was there. Guess I’m a little melancholy today and wondering what God is planning. After all, He doesn’t give us desires without plans to use them.”

Ever since I hit “post”, I’ve been wondering if I should have kept my thoughts to myself. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with the church I attend. I enjoy it. The singers and musicians do a great job leading worship, and the songs they pick are good ones. The sermons always give me food for thought. My daughters, 18 and 16, never beg to miss. We are blessed.

So, what’s wrong?

Do I need more sleep? Do I need to read God’s Word more? Is God leading in another direction?

Or, is my earlier statement the real answer, “I think winter is getting to me”?

In 2 Kings 2, Elijah did a lot of traveling. No matter how many times he told Elisha to stay behind, Elisha refused. Finally, Elijah asked what did Elisha want. Elisha said he wanted a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. Elijah says, “Well, keep your eyes on me then, no matter what, and you’ll get it. If you don’t, then no go” (Shannon’s version). LOL

Elisha kept his attention on his teacher, and he received what he asked for. So, I’m going to keep my eyes on my Teacher, no matter how dark it gets. Soon… Ahem, in His time, I’ll get it…whatever it is. 🙂
